California Phone-Free Schools Act Panel

Beginning July 1, AB 3216 goes into effect and every public school district in California will be required to adopt a phone-free school policy. A new bill, AB 1644 - The Phone-Free Schools Act, has also been proposed to strengthen these policies by requiring bell-to-bell restrictions on student cell phone use during the school day.

  1. Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal, author of the Phone-Free Schools Act & Co authoer of AB1644 Bell to Bell Policy

  2. Yvonne Shiu, San Mateo High School Principal. She implemented a Bell-to-Bell policy six years ago. 

  3. Dallas Lawrence, LVUSD School Board Member whose school district has a Bell-to-Bell policy

  4. Julie Frumin, LMFT, therapist and tech consultant
