Starting July 1, AB 3216 goes into effect and every public school district in California will be required to adopt some kind of phone-free or phone-restricting policy. A new bill, AB 1644 (The Phone-Free Schools Act - watch the recording of the April 15, 2026 Press Conference in Sacramento here) wants to strengthen legislation statewide by requiring bell-to-bell restrictions. Wondering what that means for your school? Curious about bell-to-bell policies? Want change in your district but don’t know how to start? Don’t miss this informative virtual session for parents, educators, school administrators and legislators.
Invited speakers for this virtual panel event include:
Assemblymember Josh Lowenthal, author of the Phone-Free Schools Act & Co-author of AB 1644 Bell to Bell Policy
Yvonne Shiu, San Mateo High School Principal. She implemented a Bell-to-Bell policy six years ago.
Dallas Lawrence, LVUSD School Board Member whose school district has a Bell-to-Bell policy
Julie Frumin, LMFT, therapist and tech consultant
